Do I need vision insurance to schedule an eye exam at Family Eye Wellness?
No. You do not need vision insurance to be seen at Family Eye Wellness. Many of our patients choose to pay directly for their eye care because they want a more personal, thorough experience with transparent pricing.
Our comprehensive eye exam is designed to be affordable and straightforward, without surprise add-on fees for many of the important tests that are often needed during a complete eye health and vision evaluation.
How much is a comprehensive eye exam without insurance?
Our comprehensive eye exam is $149 and includes much more than a quick vision check. The exam includes a glasses prescription, digital retinal imaging, eye pressure testing, eye health evaluation, refraction, and screening tests for eye teaming concerns when appropriate.
Patients also receive up to 60 minutes of one-on-one care with the doctor, giving you time to ask questions, explain your concerns, and understand your options.
Is paying out of pocket for an eye exam really worth it?
For many patients, yes. Paying directly allows us to focus on your care instead of rushing through a high-volume insurance-based schedule. You get more time with the doctor, a more complete conversation, and a clearer explanation of your vision and eye health.
Many patients tell us they appreciate not feeling rushed, not feeling like “just another appointment,” and not being surprised by extra fees for basic parts of a comprehensive exam.
Do you accept patients who have vision plans?
Yes. Patients with vision plans are welcome at Family Eye Wellness. We are considered an out-of-network provider for many vision plans, which means you may still be able to submit your receipt to your vision plan for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Our team helps make this easier by filling out the out-of-network claim form for you when possible, so you can submit it to your plan directly.
Why would I come to an out-of-network eye doctor if I already have a vision plan?
Many patients choose us because they want a different experience than the typical insurance-based eye exam. In many high-volume insurance settings, doctors are under pressure to see a large number of patients quickly. That can leave less time for detailed questions, explanations, and personalized care.
At Family Eye Wellness, our model allows us to spend more time with you, understand your concerns, and recommend what is truly best for your eyes, your vision, and your lifestyle.
Are glasses, frames, and lenses reasonably priced too?
We focus on quality, fit, and visual performance. Glasses are not just about the prescription; the frame fit, lens design, measurements, coatings, and material all affect how well you see and how comfortable your glasses feel.
Our team helps guide you through those choices so your glasses are made properly for your eyes, your prescription, and your daily life. Many patients choose to purchase glasses from us because they want better guidance, careful measurements, and support after the sale.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds for my exam, glasses, or contacts?
Yes. We accept HSA and FSA payments for eligible eye care expenses. This can be a helpful way to pay for your exam, glasses, contact lenses, specialty lenses, or other qualifying vision-related expenses using pre-tax dollars.
What if I need more than just a basic eye exam?
That is one reason many patients choose Family Eye Wellness. In addition to routine eye exams, we also evaluate concerns such as blurry vision, eye strain, headaches, children’s vision problems, myopia progression, binocular vision issues, lazy eye, eye turns, and other visual symptoms.
Because we schedule more time with our patients, we can better understand what is going on and guide you toward the right next step.
How do I know if Family Eye Wellness is the right choice for me?
Family Eye Wellness may be a great fit if you want a thorough eye exam, more time with the doctor, clear pricing, quality eyewear options, and a team that listens to your concerns.
We are especially a good fit for patients who feel rushed elsewhere, want better explanations, have children with vision concerns, need specialty care, or want an eye care experience that is based on quality rather than volume.
